PGL’s next monthly meeting will be held on Sunday, September 3, and as the first meeting of the 2017-18 year it will feature a special location—the Gettysburg Borough Chambers at 59 E. High Street.
By meeting in the Gettysburg Borough Chambers—the monthly meetings are otherwise held in the homes of PGL supporters—PGL celebrates its long-lasting sister city relationship. The evening’s agenda will include a greeting from Gettysburg’s Mayor, Ted Streeter, and other news about the relationship is in the planning stage.
The gathering, scheduled for 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., will begin with the usual pot-luck dinner. The evening’s presentation will be a concise review of PGL’s major initiatives, so that supporters of PGL will have a clear picture of its activities as the 2017-2018 year gets underway. With PGL’s In-Country Coordinator, Steve Lewis, participating via Skype, he will be able to provide up-to-date commentary.
PGL and the Borough of Gettysburg officially became sister cities through a Borough Council resolution on February 13, 1990. Later, in 2002, the Gettysburg adopted a Sister City Plan which states that the Borough “seeks to promote cultural understanding between peoples and conduct programs of mutual benefit between the Borough and its sister cities.”
