LEÓN STAFF
PROJECT COORDINATOR
Felice Chay
Felice graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 2000 with a B.S. in Economics from the Wharton School of Business. As a student, she spent a year working as a consultant at the Wharton Small Business Development Center. After a short six month period working in a venture capital start-up in Philadelphia, Felice moved to western Honduras, where she spent two years serving as an Economic Development volunteer with Peace Corps Honduras. While there, she worked as a consultant with local NGOs, small businesses and coffee cooperatives. She also provided small business training to rural banks, women's groups and secondary school students. Her experience in the Peace Corps gave birth to a love for Central America and a passion for development work.
After returning to the States, she joined AmeriCorps VISTA and spent a year as a Resource Developer for Centro Nueva Creacion, a non-profit social services center in North Philadelphia. There she gained valuable experience in grant writing and non-profit management, but felt an intense desire to return to Central America.
In May 2005, Felice moved to Leon to become the Project Coordinator of Project Gettysburg/León. She lives in Barrio Subtiava with her four-year old daughter Alejandra.
