Following directly on the heels of the visit in León by Gettysburg College students from a First Year Seminar, three Heston interns will begin their work on May 23. Greg Bowles, PGL's director in León, has arranged the internships for Ben Schell, Elena Perez-Zetune and Bridget Footit.
Ben will be working with the non-profit organization, FUPROSOMUNIC, that administers a program of training women to construct their own wood-conserving stoves and solar ovens. Elena will be working with Las Tias, the organization that reaches out to street children in León. She will also be engaged in ESL projects with the art school, Taller Xuchialt, and at the primary school, Colegio Salzburgo. Bridget's internship is with the NGO "Ayudemos aun Nino," which collaborates with Las Tias in working with children in the city, and she will also work with Elena on the ESL projects.
