Monte Horet Pre-School Project:
Through sponsorship you will help construct a pre-school building in Monte Horet, |
Monte Horet is one of the poorest communities in Leon, Nicaraugua. Many of the people live in shacks made of plastic tarps, cardboard, and corrugated metal. The community is located more than a mile from the nearest pre-school. It is too far for mothers to walk their young children, particularly during the rainy season when roads are likely to wash out. The pre-school will include a kitchen and dining area to provide at least one meal a day in order to ensure that basic nutritional needs are met. A local government organization has made an agreement to provide food for the children. Community members will provide most of the labor for the pre-school. Only one mason will actually be paid for construction oversight. All other expenses are materials. The pre-school building would provide the first indoor, communal space for Monte Horet. The community's directiva is also exploring other uses for the space, including the possibility of it being a site for a traveling health clinic. Explore the project brochure and share it with friends. Giving the donation as part of a celebratory gift for a loved one? Consider sending one of these four cards in recognition! |
