Talolinga Agricultural Extension Project:

Through sponsorship you will help the families
of the needy community of Talolinga improve their agriculture and gardening.

Are you interested in nutrition, agriculture, environmentally sound practices? Then this sponsorship is for you!

Your sponsorship will reach the 45 families of the rural, mountain-top community of Talolinga who seek to develop farming and family gardening systems that are compatible with local culture and the environment. Your contribution will support Javier, a Talolinga farmer, in a 6-month training program in sustainable agricultural practices, after which he will serve as an extensionist, introducing strategies such as organic pest control, composting, seed-saving, and other methods for increasing yields and diversifying production. Javier will be provided with valuable resources for monitoring crop health and problem solving. The final outcome will be better, diversified crops, improved nutrition and increased income for the farm families of Talolinga.

As a sponsor you will make a reality of this unique initiative developed by the Penn State Extension Young Grower Alliance (YGA) in collaboration with Project Gettysburg/León. You will bring to fruition the plans envisioned by members of the YGA during their exploratory visit to Talolinga in January, 2011 (see accompanying photos).
